Life in The North
From Haida Gwaii on the Pacific Ocean to the Yukon/Northwest Territories border and Dawson Creek near the Rocky Mountain foothills, northern BC is home to many diverse rural communities. Northern Health has three Health Service Delivery Areas: Northwest, Northeast, and Northern Interior.
Life in The Interior
The Interior encompasses rural communities served by Interior Health located throughout the Cariboo, the Okanagan, and the Kootenays surrounded by mountain ranges, lakes, and abundant orchards and vineyards. It has three Health Service Delivery Areas: Thompson Cariboo Shuswap, Okanagan, Kootenay Boundary, and East Kootenay.
Life on The Island
The Island region includes communities amongst the scenic Gulf Islands, on Vancouver Island including the provincial capital of Victoria and rural areas along the Pacific west coast and the Strait of Georgia on the east coast. It is served by Island Health which has three Health Service Delivery Areas: North Vancouver Island, Central Vancouver Island, and South Vancouver Island.
Life in The Coast
Rural communities served in this region by Vancouver Coastal Health include Bella Bella and Bella Coola and several communities along the Sunshine Coast and on the Sea-to-Sky Highway, all of which are in the North Shore/Coast Garibaldi Health Service Delivery Area.
Life in the Fraser Valley
East of Vancouver are several rural communities along the Fraser Valley to Hope and in the Coquihalla Canyon, a gateway to the Interior region. This area is served by Fraser Health.
